Homemade Flour Tortillas

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 Cups Flour
  • 2 Tbs. Shortening
  • 1/2 tsp. Salt
  • 1/2 tsp. Baking Powder
  • 3/4 Cup Water

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients
  2. Add shortening and water.
  3. Knead and shape into balls and cover with additional shortening.
  4. Let dough rest for a minimum of 5 minutes or up to 24 hours in the refrigerator.
  5. Heat skillet.
  6. Flatten pieces of dough and toss back and forth between hands to make a circle.
  7. Place on skillet and cook on one side until bubbles form on the top side.
  8. Flip over and cook on the other side.
